Introduction

Welcome to the wikia for Season 8 of Kpnna's Expect the Unexpected game series, Friends & Foes. This season had many changes compared to the past 7 seasons, including new competitions, more live competitions, and a different sceduele. Kpnna returned to host for the 8th season and it premiered Monday, January 7, 2013. The game ended Friday, February 12, 2013 when Sam (Sammy1172) was crowned the winner receiving 5 of 7 jury votes.

How to Play

• Each week, there is an HOH competition.
• The HOH then nominated two houseguests for eviction.
• The POV competition then took place.
• The winner of the POV competition could take one of the two nominees off, or keep the nominations the same. In the event a nominee was removed, the HOH had to name a replacement.
• The houseguests (excluding the nominees and HOH) then voted to evict one of the nominees.
• You had to try to keep your friend in the game safe why trying to get your foe out.
• If your friend was evicted, you were not allowed to participate in the next HOH competition.
• If your foe was evicted, you could participate in the next HOH competition if you were the outgoing HOH. You also received an extra vote to use in the 3 evictions after that.

• Note 1: There was a double eviction night. The night the Week 3 eviction results were announced and Cireas was evicted, there was another HOH Competition, Nominations, POV Competition & Ceremony, and Eviction, where Steven was evicted. The next endurance HOH was that night as well.
• Note 2: Josh voted to evict Steven, and used his extra eviction vote (received from getting his foe evicted) against Ashley.
• Note 3: Due to Pandora's Box, Josh got to select 4 people to be safe Week 6. He chose Nick, Sam, Sterling, and Ozzy. The house was not aware they had immunity (nor did they, Josh was the only one who know), and they were only notified if someone had immunity during the nomination ceremony. If the HOH tried to nominate someone with safety, they would get an "error message" and be forced to nominate someone else. This happened when Nick tried to nominate Sterling.
• Note 4: Josh used his power "Switcheroo" (won in the Luxury Competiton). This switched the vote around, ultamitely causing Monica to be evicted instead of Ashley.

Friends & Foes

The major twist of this season was that every houseguest had a friend and a foe. They had to try and protect their friend and get out their foe. If any pair of friends made it to the Final 2, the winner would receive a $15 iTunes gift card, and the Runner-Up would receive a $10 iTunes gift card, instead of only the winner getting a $10 iTunes gift card. If their foe was evicted, they were allowed to participate in the next week's HOH (if they were HOH the week the foe was evicted), and they received an extra eviction vote. The extra eviction vote could be used to cast an extra eviction vote during an eviction, as long as the person using the vote was allowed to vote themself (Ex. Could not use it if they were HOH or a nominee). They usually expired after 3 weeks. If their friend was evicted, they lost the chance of getting the extra reward in the Final 2, and were not allowed to participate in the next week's HOH competition.

Penalty Votes

Penalty votes were a new addition to Expect the Unexpected. A houseguest received a penalty vote when they did not vote and when they had not submitted a Diary Room for 72 hours. If it became a problem, houseguests were given 2 penalty votes for each offence. Penalty votes counted as extra eviction votes against the holder for the next time they were nominated. This effected the game greatly, causing strategies to change, and causing people to be evicted that otherwise would not have been evicted.

While the official record was not kept for Season 8, you can see when penalty votes counted against houseguests in the nomination/eviction table. After the Week 9 eviction, all penalty votes expired.

Extra Eviction Votes

Extra eviction votes were handed out when a houseguest sucessfully had their foe eviction. Most expired after 3 evictions. (Sam's second vote only had one week to use since it was almost the end of the game.) The extra eviction vote could be used to cast an extra eviction vote during an eviction, as long as the person using the vote was allowed to vote themself (Ex. Could not use it if they were HOH or a nominee). Listed below are people who received extra eviction votes, at the end of what week, which week they expired, and whether or not it was used.

To start off the season, on Monday, January 7, 14 new houseguests entered the house, and the shocking twist of the season was announced. Everyone was told who their friends and foes were, and the drama started almost instantly. The first HOH competition was posted, and when the results were announced a day later on Tuesday, January 8, it was revealed that Sam had won the HOH competition. The next day, Wednesday, January 9, Sam made his nominations of Monica & Nate. On Thursday, January 10, Monica won the POV and saved herself. Sam then renominated Sterling. However, the next day, Friday, January 11, Nate was evicted, receiving 9 out of the 11 eviction votes. His foe was Sam, so Sam received an extra eviction vote to use and was allowed to participate in the Week 2 HOH competition. His friend was Monica, so she was banned from the next HOH competition.

As was typical in Expect the Unexpected, one of the first competitions was a poll. A poll with all the houseguests' names was put up, and they had to spam and get the most votes. Whoever got the most votes after 23 hours would win. It was revealed after the poll was closed that Sam received the most votes and won the HOH competition. The poll received a total of 67 votes. This competition was live. Sam, the HOH, and the nominees Nate and Monica participated. The first 3 people to sign in, Austin, Lachlan, and Josh, also played.

This competition was called "Blast From the Past."

A question about Big Brother USA was asked, and the first person to correctly answer was able to eliminate a life from another contestant. Each player had 2 lives. The last person standing, Monica, won the POV.

After the HOH competition, Josh came out with a win. The next day, January 12, he made his nominations of Cireas and Steven. The nonlive POV was posted and the next day, January 13, it was revealed that Sam had won the POV. He decided to use the POV on Steven, so Josh renominated Christian. On the eviction day (January 14), Christian was evicted receiving 8 of the 11 votes (Cireas had a penalty vote). His foe was Josh, so Josh received an extra eviction vote to use and was allowed to participate in the Week 3 HOH competition. Christian's friend, Sterling, was banned from playing in the next HOH.

Week 2 HOH Competition

For this live competition, a task was presented, and participants had to bet a number on how much/how little they could do that task. The person who chose the hardest number (highest/lowest, depending on task) would have to do the task. If they failed, they were eliminated. If they succeeded, the person who chose the easiest number would be eliminated. The last person standing would win!

James, Josh, Sam, and Sterling showed up and therefore got to participate. After the tiebreaker question, Josh claimed the title of HOH.

Week 2 POV Competition

The POV competition was called "Big Brother Piñatas." It was a nonlive competition.

The HOH, two nominees, and three houseguests selected by random draw were chosen to participate. The HOH was Josh, the nominees were Cireas and Steven, and the three randomly selected houseguests were James, Monica, and Sam.

Each houseguest was given 10 pieces of candy from their piñatas, and they were required to give at least one piece of candy each to at least two other houseguests. They could share more candy if they wished, but that was the minimum. They could keep some for themselves, but that was not required. The person closest to 20 candies after the sharing without going over won the competition. If someone went over 20 candies, they won the POV. Cireas and Steven failed to complete the challenge. However, they were still able to receive candies so that is why they are on the chart. Receiving 16 candies, Sam won the POV.

Josh won the HOH for a second time in a row. The next day, January 15, he made his nominations of Ashley & Cireas. January 16 & 17 were break days, but when the game came back on January 18, Ozzy pulled out a POV win and decided to use it on no one. On the eviction day (January 19), there was a tie in the vote of 5-5 (both Ashley & Cireas had a penalty vote), so the HOH Josh cast the tiebreaker vote, evicted Cireas. His foe was Ozzy, so Ozzy received an extra eviction vote. Cireas's friend, Lachlan, was banned from playing in the next HOH.

Week 3 HOH Competition

This competition was called "Scrambled." It was a live competition. Josh, Monica, Ozzy, and Sam showed up, and therefore got to participate.

This was a very simple competition. A scrambled word was posted, and the first houseguest to unscrambled it received a point. The first houseguest to 3 points won. Josh got the first 3 questions correct and won the HOH.

Week 3 POV Competition

This competition was called "Bloody Hands." It was a live competition. Ashley, Josh, Monica, Nick, and Ozzy showed up and therefore got to participate.

A question was asked, and the first person to correctly answer it had to give someone bloody hands. The person who has bloody hands then had to eliminate a life from another houseguest. Everyone had 2 lives. Whoever had bloody hands could not eliminate a life from the person who gave it to them, unless it was final 3. At the end, Ozzy emeraged victorious.

The Friends & Foes double eviction night took place on January 19, 2013. Following Cireas's eviction, Sam won the HOH competition. He then instantly nominated Ashley & Steven. With no time to waste, the POV took place, and Nick took the title of POV winner. He decided not to use it and the voting began. The vote was tied 4-4, so the HOH Sam casted the tiebreaker vote to evict Steven. Nick was Steven's foe, so Nick received an extra eviction vote. Austin was Steven's friend, so Austin was not allowed to participate in the next HOH competition.

Week 3.5 HOH Competition

This was a live competition. Ashley, Austin, Monica, Nick, and Sam showed up and therefore got to participate.

Picture were posted in the images section of the group. For each question, another picture was posted with more of the item. Houseguests had to guess how many of the item there were in a PM. All the guesses were revealed, then houseguests had to either stay or fold. If a houseguest folded, they were safe for the round, but they could not get a point. Out of everyone that stayed, whoever got the closest to the correct answer without going over won. Whoever was the farthest from the answer was eliminated. Once someone got 3 points or was the last participant in the game won. Sam won after everyone else was eliminated.

This competition was called "Speedy Quick." It was a live competition. Ashley, Austin, Josh, Monica, Nick, and Sam showed up and therefore got to participate.

Right after the double eviction night on January 19, the night continue with a long endurance competition. After hanging on, Monica won the title of HOH. The next day, January 20, she made her nominations of Ashley and James. The nonlive POV was posted later that day, and when the results were revealed on January 21, Josh had won the POV. He chose not to use it. The house voted, but right before the eviction results were revealed, a luxury competition was hosted. Josh won, and got some powers that were helpful for later in the game. The results were revealed, Spolzojames50 was evicted receiving 5 out of 8 eviction votes (Spolzojames50 had 2 penalty votes). His foe was Sterling, so Sterling got an extra eviction vote. His friend was Ashley, so Ashley was banned from the Week 5 HOH competition.

Week 4 HOH Competition

This competition was called "Walk the Plank." It was a live endurance competition. Ashley, Josh, Monica, and Nick showed up and therefore got to participate.

There was a large ship in backyard with boards coming out of it. Anytime between 1-30 minutes the host posted *sharks bang against ship*. Participants needed to post *hangs on* within 5 minutes to stay in the competition. If they didn't, they fell off the plank and got eaten by sharks, therefore getting eliminated. Houseguests could "walk the plank" (quit the competition by walking off their plank and getting eaten by sharks) anytime they wanted. The 5 minutes given to post *hangs on* shrunk throughout the game. The last person standing won. Monica won.

Endurance Highlights

• After 3 shark attacks, the time to post was reduced to 4 minutes.
• On the 6th shark attack, Josh fell off his plank.
• After 8 shark attacks, the time to post was reduced to 3 minutes.
• On the 14th shark attack, Ashley fell off his plank.
• After 14 shark attacks, the time to post was reduced to 2 minutes.
• On the 17th shark attack, Nick walked the plank.
• After 17 shark attacks, Monica won the HOH.

Week 4 POV Competition

This competition was called "Dune Buggy." This was a nonlive competition, so the HOH, 2 nominees, and 3 randomly selected houseguests participated. The HOH was Monica, the 2 nominees was Ashley and James, and the 3 randomly selected houseguests were Josh, Sam, and Ozzy.

In this competition, houseguests were given a link to a minigame called "Dune Buggy" (link here). Houseguests had to play the game and screenshot their score at the end. Which ever houseguest had the highest score won. Josh won the POV with a score of 9,410.

Josh started off the week with his 3rd HOH win of the season on January 22. He was offered a Pandora's Box, which he opened. He received a few power, but the most game-changing was there were new Friends & Foes. This changed the game dramatically. The next day, January 23, at the nomination ceremony, Josh decided to nominate Lachlan and Nick. On January 24, Monica won the POV, but decided to not use it on anyone. The next day on January 25. Lachlan was evicted receiving 6 out of 8 votes. Lachie had 2 penalty votes, and Nick had 1. Lachlan's foe was Monica, so Monica received an extra eviction vote. Lachlan did not have a friend, so no one was banned from the next HOH competition.

Week 5 Pandora's Box

Josh was offered Pandora's Box Week 5. When he entered Pandora's Box, there was a TV screen; on the screen was a picture of Christian and Ozzy with a big X through them both. He opened the letter on the table and read "Open this and you'll shake up the house, but there's a power awaiting you." He decided to open Pandora's Box.

Everyone received new friends & foes. They were randomized, except for one person's. Josh was given the power to choose someone's friend & foe. If that person had already lost a friend or foe, they got another one, and a random person lost theirs. Otherwise, if someone already lost a friend or foe, they did not receive another. Josh decided Sam's friend was Nick and his foe was Ashley. The house was not informed this was because of Pandora's Box, instead they were just PM'ed their new friend and/or foe.

He also was able to give 4 people safety for the next week. He could not choose himself. However, the house nor the people receiving safety knew they had immunity. If the next week's HOH tried to nominate one of the people with safety, they just received an "error" message, and was forced to name another nominee on the spot. Josh chose to give safety to Nick, Sam, Ozzy, and Sterling.

This week's competition was called "Memories of the Past." It was a live competition. Monica and Nick showed up and therefore got to participate.

Week 6 was a fast forward week. 2 evictions happened within 1 week. Right after the previous eviction on January 25. the HOH competition took place, and Nick emerged victor. The houseguests were shocked with the news that this was a fast forward week, and Nick had to immediately nominate two houseguests for eviction. He nominated Ashley Austin. The next day on January 26, Sam won the POV and used it to save Austin. Nick then renominated Monica. Everyone voted to evict, and Josh used his "Switcheroo" power to swap the votes. Normally, Ashley would have been evicted by a vote of 3-1 (receiving 1 penalty vote), however due to the power, Monica was evicted 3-1. The houseguests were not aware of this switch, and thought Monica was actually evicted by a vote of 3-1. Monica did not have any Friends or Foes.

To continue the fast forward week, the nonlive HOH competition was posted on January 27. Earlier than normal the next day on January 28, the results were posted, revealing Josh won the HOH for the 4th time. He then instantly nomination Austin and Ozzy. Later that day, houseguests fought in the POV competition, where Austin came out on top. He saved himself, so Josh nominated Ashley in his place. The next day on January 29, it was revealed that Ozzy had been evicted receiving 5 out of 8 votes (receiving 3 penalty votes). Ozzy was Josh's friend, so Josh was banned from the next HOH competition, even though he wouldn't have been able to join because he was HOH this week.

The houseguests had to answer the question not as they think, but what they thought the majority of the house would answer. If they were in the majority, they received a point. Whoever had the most points at the end won. In the event of a tie, there was a tiebreaker question, whoever got closest to that answer without going over won. Josh won after getting 6 out of the 7 question in majority, and then winning the tiebreaker.

This competition was called "Scatergories." It was a live competition. Ashley, Austin, Josh, Nick, and Sam showed up and therefore got to participate.

For each round, a topic and a single letter was posted. Houseguests had to PM the host how many things they thought they could name in that category that began with that letter. Whoever submitted the highest number would have to post as many words as they could in seperate posts in 2 minutes. If they suceeded, whoever submitted the lowest number was eliminated. (If more than 1 person shared the lowest number, the person with the highest number who completed the task could choose who was eliminated.) If they failed, they were eliminated. This continued until there was one person left. Austin won.

Each houseguest was given their own topic, Starting from 0, they had to count as high as they could, and then count backwards to 0. Whoever reached the highest number won.

Sam won the HOH after the eviction on February 2. He already knew who he wanted to nominate, so he went ahead and nominated Ashley and Sterling. February 3 was a break day. When the game came back on February 4, Nick won the live POV competition and decided to not use his power. Everyone was present at the vote and knew who they wanted to vote, so the eviction took place the same night. There was a tie in the vote 2-2 (Sterling had 2 penalty votes), so Sam cast the tiebreaker vote to evict Ashley. Sam was Ashley's foe, so Sam received an extra eviction vote and since he was the outgoing HOH, he got to participate in the next HOH competition.

Week 9 POV Competition

This competition was called "All Messed Up." It was a live competition. Austin, Nick, and Sam showed up, and therefore got to participate.

A puzzle was sent to the houseguests in a PM. The houseguests had to unscramble the puzzle and PM Kpnna the code that popped up after the puzzle was complete. There were a total of 4 rounds, which progressively got harder. The time it took from when Kpnna messaged the houseguest to puzzle link to when he received the code was the time for each round. Whichever houseguest had the shortest overall time for the four rounds won. However, Austin and Sam were disqualified for cheating, so Nick won the POV.

Week 10 was the final week in the Big Brother house. It consisted of the final 3-part HOH competition, and the final eviction. Sam managed to get the win in the Part 1 HOH endurance competition on February 8. The next day, February 9, Part 2 was supposed to take place between Nick and Sterling. However, Sterling failed to show up to the competition, so Nick won by default. Nick and Sam faced off in Part 3, where Sam pulled out the win. He then instantly decided to evict Sterlingo, making Nick and Sam the final 2 houseguests.

This endurance competition was simple. Nick and Sam showed up and therefore got to participate. Every once in a while, Kpnna posted "Hi everyone!" Everyone then had to post "Hi Kpnna!" If they failed to do so after 5 minutes, they were eliminated. This continued until 1 winner was left.

Endurance Highlights

• During the 4th "Hi," Nick failed to post "Hi Kpnna!" and was eliminated.
• After the 4th "Hi,"  Sam won HOH.

For this competition, there were 5 statements made by jury members (Ozzy failed to submit one), with 2 possible endings. Participants had to correctly select the ending. Finale Night

Finale Night was on February 12. After the final eviction on February 9, jury members had 3 days to decide who they wanted to vote for. On finale night, it started with houseguest interviews of those who attended. Then, some of the most shocking Diary Room enteries were revealed for everyone to see. Many people were shocked. It was then revealed who was friends and foes with who. A few of the season's shocking twists were then revealed. After that, the final vote was revealed.

Jury Voting

The last 7 houseguests to get evicted got to cast votes in the jury. However, Ozzy and Sterling failed to submit a vote, so James and Steven submitted a jury vote. Ashley, Austin, James, Josh, and Steven all voted for Sam. Lachlan and Monica voted for Nick. Therefore, Sam won by a vote of 5-2. One of the twists of the game was that if a pair of friends made it to the final 2, instead of the winner getting a $10 iTunes gift card and the runner-up receiving nothing, the winner would receive a $15 iTunes gift card and the runner up would receive a $10 iTunes gift card. Since Sam and Nick were friends, they got the extra prizes.

The bedrooms are were the houseguests slept. Each bedroom had a different theme. On premiere night, the houseguests could choose which bedroom they wanted to sleep in. Ashley, James, Nick, and Steven failed to select a bedroom, so they were placed in the TBA bedroom.

Outdoors Bedroom

This bedroom had an outdoor theme. The walls were painted with trees and outdoor life. It smelled like the woods. There were plush toys of bears and jaguars and other animals around the room. All the furniture was made of wood. This room could hold 3 players.

Tropical Bedroom

This room had a tropical beach theme. The wall was painted with images of palm trees, the beach, with the ocean waters lapping against the sand. This bedroom could hold 4 houseguests.

Money Bedroom

This room had a money theme. The walls were painted green, and around the room various rare bills hung in frames. This bedroom could hold 3 houseguests.

TBA Bedroom

There was nothing in this room except 4 beds, since this bedroom could hold 4 houseguests. There was no design whatsoever. It was originally planned for the houseguests to design this room in a competition, however, this didn't happen.

HOH Bedroom

The HOH for the week moved into the HOH room, with extra luxuries than the other bedrooms, such as a large bathroom.

Bathroom

Houseguests could "take care of their business" in the bathroom. The shower was like a stall, and the door had a lock on it. The toilet was in a small room with a door, also able to be locked. There were 2 sinks with a large mirror. A shelf filled with many fluffy towels sat against the wall.

Kitchen

The kitchen is where the houseguests could eat food. The cabinets were stocked with tons of food and Big Brother slop. There was a counter with 4 stools. The oven, microwave, refrigerator, and freezer lined the walls. A large circular table with 14 seats sat in the middle of the room. All nomination ceremonies took place in the Kitchen.

Storage Room

This room was how Big Brother provide the houseguests with food and other supplies without letting the houseguests see them. Houseguests could request items, however Big Brother had to approve the items before they were given to the houseguests.

Living Room

The living room was a nice place where houseguests could relax. There were two nomination chairs and four small couches with 3 seats each forming a "U." There was a TV which the host, Kpnna, communicated with the houseguests with. All evictions and POV ceremonies took place in the living room.

Backyard

The backyard was a place were the houseguests could relax in the sun, swim, tan, exercise, or anything else you can do outside. However, it was fenced off from the outside world. The backyard had exercise equipment, a pool, a jacuzzi, and lawn chairs. All competitions took place in the backyard.

Diary Room

The Diary Room was the place where houseguests could share their thoughts on the game. This was a public Diary Room. To reveal secret things such as alliances, thoughts, plans, etc., houseguests had to PM Kpnna a private Diary Room or risk receiving a penalty vote.
